Kimya’s PEKK-A filament is a high-performance polymer for the most demanding applications. PEKK (polyetheretherketone) is a technical plastic that offers excellent properties and, in many cases, can even replace metal in certain applications. Kimya’s PEKK-A is an amorphous polymer. The PEKK material is primarily used in engineering sectors such as the automotive industry and aerospace. Additionally, due to its mechanical properties, it is ideally suited for manufacturing joints, brackets, or gears. In addition to its high mechanical strength and stiffness, PEKK is an excellent electrical insulator. The plastic offers temperature resistance up to 260°C. The material is also highly abrasion-resistant and has good chemical resistance to acids, alcohols, alkyds, bases, esters, ethers, halogens, and hydrocarbons. Furthermore, the material is UL94 V0 certified for fire safety (flame-retardant). Since PEKK is a high-performance polymer, certain precautions are necessary to process the material optimally. PEKK requires a nozzle temperature of 370°C and is therefore not printable on many standard desktop 3D printers. At the same time, it is recommended to use a heated build chamber. This prevents or minimizes warping of the material and improves print results. Please check in advance whether your printer is compatible with high-temperature materials such as PEEK, PEKK, PEI, PPSU, etc.
