Since we frequently receive inquiries regarding the compatibility of Ultimaker filaments, we would like to inform you that this filament can be used in all Ultimaker printers. However, the built-in NFC chip can only be read by compatible Ultimaker 3D printers, such as the Ultimaker 3, Ultimaker S3, and Ultimaker S5. The Ultimaker PLA filament is made from biodegradable raw materials. Furthermore, this material—developed specifically for Ultimaker devices—prints easily and reliably. Along with the launch of the filament, Ultimaker released a new version of Cura that provides custom material profiles for various requirements. The filament spool contains an integrated NFC chip that communicates material information and the remaining length of the filament directly to Cura. Ultimaker PLA can also be processed without any issues by other FDM printers. Furthermore, the PLA filament works perfectly with Ultimaker PVA material. PVA is a water-soluble support material that can be completely removed in a water bath after printing. This combination allows you to design and print your 3D model without geometric restrictions.
