BASF Ultrafuse PLA Tough by Forward AM is a high-quality 3D printing filament based on polylactic acid (PLA), specifically engineered for enhanced mechanical properties. Unlike standard PLA, this material offers higher impact resistance and toughness, making it less brittle and more resistant to shocks and breaks. The filament has a diameter of 1.75 mm and comes in a natural color that provides a subtle, translucent look with a glossy finish. It is ideal for applications requiring better mechanical strength, such as functional prototypes, enclosures, toys, and tools. Recommended printing temperatures range between 190°C and 230°C, while the heated bed temperature should be set between 20°C and 60°C. An enclosed build chamber is not strictly necessary but can be beneficial for larger prints. Although PLA Tough is more durable than standard PLA, it is still not as heat-resistant as ABS or PETG, making it best suited for indoor use. In summary, BASF Ultrafuse PLA Tough offers an excellent balance of ease of printing and improved performance for a wide range of applications.
