BASF Ultrafuse PLA Tough Naturally by Forward AM is a high-quality 3D printing filament based on polylactic acid (PLA), featuring a specialized formulation that delivers significantly higher toughness and impact resistance compared to standard PLA. With a diameter of 1.75 mm (despite misleading product labeling) and a spool weight of 1 kg (corrected from 1 g), this filament is ideal for applications that require both the easy printability of PLA and enhanced durability. The natural 'Naturally' color stands out with its subtle, warm tone and is free from added pigments, making it particularly appealing for functional prototypes and technical applications. Recommended print settings include a nozzle temperature of 190–220 °C and a heated bed temperature of 0–60 °C, though the filament performs well even without a heated bed due to its good layer adhesion. Printing should ideally be done in a well-ventilated area, and an enclosure is optional to minimize warping on larger models. Applications include functional prototypes, enclosures, tools, and mechanical parts requiring higher load-bearing capacity. However, note that the filament may soften at elevated temperatures (> 60 °C), making it unsuitable for high-heat applications. The enhanced toughness, however, reduces the risk of breakage during printing and in use.
