CFKimya
The PEKK material from the French manufacturer Kimya is among the strongest and most durable plastics not only in our product portfolio but also on the entire market. The material available here is additionally reinforced with carbon fibers, resulting in even greater stiffness and strength. PEKK (polyetherketone) is a high-performance polymer that ranks among the most advanced materials in current research. This material is typically used in the automotive and aerospace industries, as it can often produce components with metal-like properties that are significantly lighter or easier to manufacture. However, the many advantages in terms of technical properties are only possible because PEKK is processed at high temperatures. A standard desktop 3D printer cannot process this material. The material requires a nozzle temperature of 380°C, a build plate temperature of 150°C, and a closed, heated build chamber at 80°C. Polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) offers various advantageous properties. For example, the material is heat-resistant up to 260°C and is also flame-retardant certified to UL94 V0. For this reason, the material is frequently used to manufacture components such as air ducts in trains, airplanes, or cars. In addition to the printing material’s high mechanical properties, it also offers a very appealing surface quality, as is typical for carbon fiber-reinforced filaments. PEKK possesses exceptionally high chemical resistance. Materials that do not attack PEKK or exhibit low to no absorption include acids, alcohols, alkyds, ketones, bases, esters, ethers, halogens, and hydrocarbons. Nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and methylene chloride, however, are not recommended.
