Polymaker PolyMax PC-FR is a member of Covestro’s Makrolon family, with “FR” standing for flame-retardant, the key feature of this polycarbonate-based compound. This base material achieves a V0 rating in the UL94 flame-retardant test and is suitable for applications requiring such material certification. For example, PolyMax PC-FR can be used for battery enclosures and motor mounts in the aerospace and other industries. In the automotive, electronics, and electrical industries, many professionals are well-acquainted with such FR materials. Polymaker has introduced its nano-reinforcement technology, which is incorporated into all PolyMax materials. This increases the tensile strength of the FR material and produces a flame-retardant filament that can be used even in demanding applications. PolyMax PC-FR uses Covestro’s Makrolon, which offers a good balance between mechanical performance and safety and is already used in electronic motorcycles, aerospace parts, and automotive manufacturing. Note: In February 2022, Polymaker began transitioning all filaments to cardboard spools. This transition will take place gradually over an extended period. Both the manufacturer and we as a retailer will, of course, first sell off existing stock before the new spools become available. The filament itself remains unchanged by this transition; it is merely a change in packaging, as well as a new EAN and SKU number.
