Kimya PEI-9085 is an industrial plastic that offers advantages in mechanical properties. The material is heat-resistant and flame-retardant according to UL94 V0 and FAR 25.853. PEI (polyetherimide) is one of the high-performance polymers used mainly in industry. PEI is also sold under the brand name "ULTEM", which was developed by the Saudi Arabian company Sabic. Kimya PEI-9085 is also based on original ULTEM from Sabic or Saudi Aramco. Especially the automotive, aerospace and general engineering industries use this material because of its dimensional stability and flame retardancy. Additionally the material offers a good chemical resistance. Both Kimya and other producers generally have two different types of polyetherimides on the market. Both materials offer the aspect of flame retardant material according to UL94 V0, but PEI-1010 is resistant to a wider range of chemicals and offers better dimensional stability and heat resistance. PEI-9085, on the other hand, is usually easier to process and offers the better ductility or flexibility. This can be useful when a component needs to be impact resistant but slightly flexible (for example, to make a clip).
