The ABS Kevlar filament from French manufacturer Kimya is a 3D printing material that offers excellent mechanical properties. It is a modified ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer) containing Kevlar fibers for increased impact resistance and aramid fibers for improved printing properties. ABS is a plastic polymer resulting from the polymerization of styrene and acrylonitrile in the presence of polybutadiene. The use of aramid fibers in ABS Kevlar significantly reduces warping. Furthermore, the 3D-printed parts are lighter and more impact-resistant than conventional ABS or even carbon-fiber-reinforced ABS Carbon. It is important to note that Kevlar is significantly more susceptible to UV rays than, for example, carbon fibers. The parts are comparatively stronger and more durable with Kevlar; however, for outdoor use and exposure to the elements, we recommend other filaments (such as Kimya ABS Carbon).
